IHFD's flagship project is the development of a 10,000 unit housing project within the New Kabul Project, in the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan. IHFD is helping to meet the more than one million unit housing shortage in Afghanistan. IHFD will offer a 20-year Sharia compliant mortgage program to make the housing units affordable for low- to middle-income households.
IHFD is introducing renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind, biogas and hydro-electric power in emerging markets, including Afghanistan. In cooperation with its local joint venture partner, Qaderdan Rural Technologies Development Workshop (“QRTDW”), IHFD manufactures, assembles and installs components and complete systems in the region.
In cooperation with its local partners and its expert design team based in the United States, IHFD designs and builds complex construction projects on behalf of governments, multilateral, private and commercial clients in Afghanistan and the region.
Through its subsidiary, Geo-Building Technologies, LLC (“GBT”), IHFD has launched the innovative technology of GeoBricks in the region. GBT has so far successfully launched the GreenMachine® and GeoBricks in Afghanistan and plans to soon launch it in the remaining 7 licensed countries.
